Being a pacer was FUN!
The Wakeup
The event was blessed by the weather, crispy at the beginning with gentle breeze.
I woke up at 4am, had a banana, changed into my pacer uniform, then started running to the pacer camp! The hotel that I stayed at was only 1.5km away from the start line, which made the perfect distance for me to warm up as I went there.

Getting Ready

At 5am, I met the different pacers at the camp, found my pacer balloon, then started chatting with the different pacers. Some pre-run snacks were provided for us to munch on and get some energy. The most important thing was still going to the toilet before the race, and as usual, the bathrooms are the part that’s the least exciting and enjoyable in every running event, so I’m gonna skip that part here opps.
Start Line
On the way to the start line, several runners came toward me to ask about their starting area etc. Had a few chit chats here and there, everyone was excited for the race, it was cool knowing that they are ready to SMASH a PB (personal best)!! My starting zone was too far from the actual start line, so we barely even heard the gun. But it’s fine, with the company and the excitement, it’s just good vibes everywhere!
The RUN
I crossed the start line at about 6:13am, if there was one thing I remember the most about the Brisbane City, it has to be the Story Bridge at dawn. The bridge was lit up in blue, with the sky changing from pitch black to bronze, yellow and finally blue. Then we went up some hills, which I don’t remember what they were cause there were too many zzzz. The water view/ riverside view around Brisbane was nice towards the end!
Bonus PUPPIES
I came here for the run, stayed there for the puppies! Maybe Brisbane was just made of dogs IDK, but there were just puppies EVERYWHERE! I was surprised that I didn’t stop and go pat them during the run. This definitely added onto the awesomeness of my Brisbane 2024 experience!
